Special programs for teen players

 

1. There is a new "Sport Leadership Personal Development School Credit Program" for Nova Scotia high school students. This program is designed to help students build valuable leadership skills in coaching and officiating, while giving back to their communities and contributing to sport development in the province. Students who enroll in the program can earn a full school credit by completing requirements in either coaching or officiating. To qualify, students must complete a total of 110 hours that combine sport-specific education with practical experience, such as coaching practices and games or officiating matches.

You must send this Intake Form (fillable PDF) to the provincial department as instructed in the package.

Blizzard Hockey will do our best to help you get the hours you need for your credit. 
Students who do well in their credit hours may be able to move on to summer or part-time jobs with the organization.

2. The GAMEx Team (Game Experience) will offer teens skills development in showcasing hockey events. The skills they will acquire include videography of hockey games, live replay display on large screens, packaging video and content, announcing, scorekeeping, music and audio production, play-by-play commentary, and promoting games and players on social media platforms. For Blizzard players in U15-U18 interested in sport media skills.

3. For new to hockey players: Teen (and tween) try hockey and International student program.  Phase 1 ($300)  includes hockey gear and training sessions in October/November.  Phase 2 ($350)  Keep the gear and play on a real team November through to March. Players in this program will be ready to play on high school level teams at Blizzard and at schools.
