Hi Blizzard Families

Registration for 2023-24 is now open on the website for all age groups. Please get signed up this month. The deadline on the registration is September 4.   New to hockey players aged 6-16 who need gear should sign up with our First Shift program.

When the deadline passes we will be switching to the new 2023-24 email list so be sure to get signed in so you don't miss any communications in September. 

As you can see with your GrayJay account, your ticket credits are visible and you can add money to your account at any time by sending an E-Transfer to payment@capebretonblizzard.ca.  If you would prefer to contribute smaller amounts more often, simply send an e-transfer with the player's name noted in the memo line and it will get added to your account. 

If you are having issues with your login or password, contact us,  DO NOT create a new account as all the info is attached to your current account.

TEAM BUILDING

Several of our top-tier coaches are selected and others will be selected in early September as we see where the players are assigned.

U15AAA - A father-daughter team are leading our top U15 team this year.  Glenn Cox is a former U18AAA Chevy Panthers coach. Glenn played junior hockey with Sackville Jr Blazers of the NSJHL and received the Jacques Comeau Coach of the year award for rep hockey in 2016.  Shann Cox is 4th year honour Biology student at CBU and plays for CBU women’s hockey team. Shann was assistant captain for the Chevy Panthers and 2nd team all star for 2019-2020 hockey season of Nova Scotia U18AAA Female Hockey League.  

U13 - The O’Keefe brothers are leading our U13 teams.  Matt O’Keefe was the assistant coach last year with U18AAA CB Lynx and he will lead the U13AAA team.  Chris O’Keefe coached U13A last year and returns again this year to lead the team

U11AA - Shaun MacInnis is head coach this year of U11AA, moving up this year from coaching U11A last year.

TRYOUTS

Tryouts and travel team rosters will be finalized in early September.  We are working with Hockey Nova Scotia to advocate for a cost-conscious travel schedule for this season which could include three-game weekends/meaningful tournament games.

Here are some key dates. All at Membertou. 

August 11: invitations to final tryouts go out to players

Sept 6:  5:00 pm U11AA session

Sept 6:  6:00 pm U13AAA session

Sept 6:  7:00 pm U15AAA session

Sept 7:  5:30 pm U18 tryout warm up skate  (new time!)

Sept 8:  5:00 pm U11A session

Sept 8:  6:00 pm U13 A session

Sept 8:  7:00 pm U15 A session

Sept 9:  1:00 pm U18 tryout

Sept 10: 1:00 pm U18 tryout

(*U18A tryout fee will be $45 and includes warm up + two evaluated sessions)
